Iron Flame, Pt 13: Fuck Wack of Wyvern
Tuesday Sep 10, 2024
Tuesday Sep 10, 2024
Mel & Jill have a few tiny pieces of news about a lot of different things. And Jill might have picked a new series for the besties to cover.
After a seriously long hiatus (sorry guys), the besties dive into chapter 53 of Iron Flame. Needless to say, there’s a lot of death (of the dragon and human variety), secrets revealed, and war to be waged. Mel thinks she might have figured out Violet’s second signet, and we learn a lot about Jill’s rage towards George R.R. Martin.

Summer of Blockbusters: Clueless - As If!
Thursday Sep 05, 2024
Thursday Sep 05, 2024
The besties do a quick round-up of recent news from the Brown’s (what’s left of them anyway) selling their McMansion to Taylor Swift being the poster child of WAGs everywhere. They dive into their final film of the Summer of Blockbuster series with the same gusto Cher dives into a makeover with! From the weird romantic relationship to the iconic lines, what’s not to love about this 90s classic?

Mel & Jill Digress 10 - A Little About a Lot
Tuesday Sep 03, 2024
Tuesday Sep 03, 2024
The Besties didn’t intend to digress, but it’s been a sec since they’ve recorded together and it just kinda happened. From Valley news to recent developments in F1, to their mutual recent obsessions with true crime documentaries, the pair had too many things to discuss before getting to the originally planned programming. Also threw in some book news while they were at it.

The Valley, Season 1, Episode 12: Brittany Found Her Backbone
Thursday Aug 29, 2024
Thursday Aug 29, 2024
Mel and Jill could not wait to watch the season finale of The Valley so our pre-episode chit chat may be slightly old news. Both of us had to wipe our clown faces off, cause womp womp, we were wrong about Reputation TV. We may not have gotten our favorite re-record, but we did get a music video and surprise appearances from major celebs like Florence from Florence & the Machine. Take us to Florida!
The Valley season finale was a doozy. The first part of the episode seems to be setting Janet up to be the villain next season, until we see the cameras pick back up after 2 couples on the show split. While it is sad to see a marriage end, Mel and Jill are very proud of Brittany for taking off her rose colored glasses off and finally holding Jax accountable for his behavior.

Mel & Jill Digress 9 - Weekend Recap
Tuesday Aug 27, 2024
Tuesday Aug 27, 2024
The Besties fall down the rabbit hole of discussing what happened this weekend. From weddings to furniture shopping, to the exciting return of F1, the weekend apparently was so jam packed with fun that the Besties forgot to actually talk about the real topic. Melissa found a new love of the show Traitors and tries to get Jill to jump on the bandwagon with her. It ends with a quick discussion of what the hell is happening with Donald Trump’s face.

The Valley, Season 1, Episode 11: Danny Green Flag
Thursday Aug 22, 2024
Thursday Aug 22, 2024
We begin the episode talking the latest VPR and The Valley news. Someone will be spending A LOT of time in federal prison in the next several years. They also talked a lot about some not as solid news that could mean big changes for The Valley cast.
There were three major plot points this episode: drunk Danny, Michelle & Jesse’s relationship status, and Brittany confiding in Michelle that she isn’t afraid of the Big D. Mostly we saw Danny and Nia showcase what a normal, healthy relationship looks like, while the boys prove to be less than good friends to Danny. Newsflash, new dads struggle too sometimes. Otherwise it was all about the impending end of one, maybe two, major relationships.

Summer of Blockbusters: Scream - Horror Movies 101
Tuesday Aug 20, 2024
Tuesday Aug 20, 2024
Mel has put her clown nose, which must mean we are getting Reputation (Taylor’s Version) on Aug. 20th. All the stars are aligning according to the Besties. Jill gives an update on her Dad’s progress in the Throne of Glass series.
We discuss the 90’s classic, Scream. Mel brings out her film school hat while Jill relives her childhood nightmare. The film has a perfect blend of writer, director, and star studded cast to create the best entry into the horror genre. Meta horror never felt so good.

Summer of Blockbusters: Ghostbusters - Burning, Sticky Mess
Thursday Aug 15, 2024
Thursday Aug 15, 2024
The Besties kick off this episode with a small recap of the Olympics (we’re sad to see you go), and the intense trailer that dropped for Season 19 of Sister Wives. Let’s just say the ladies don’t seem to be warming up to Kody any time soon.
Mel and Jill deep dive into the 1984 cult classic, Ghostbusters. The star-studded cast is full of comedy giants like Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis (RIP), Bill Murray, and Rick Moranis. This silly romp into an alternate universe where the normal and the paranormal collide aged pretty well, minus a few special effects here and there.
Please also don’t mind the complete digress into Broadway shows. Jill was ADHD-ing real hard today.
